This is a fantastic experiment. I have used it to reinforce a variety of different topics; thermal expansion, gas laws, molar gas volume, kinetic theory, solids liquids and gases etc.

A can of soda is heated over a burner before being inverted in a tub of water. The can instantly collapses.
